Why was she driving a pickup truck instead of a small electric car?

I remember an accident she was in while running for governor.

Reno's red truck hit in `minor fender-bender'

lyanez@herald.com

A news helicopter hovered over a busy Kendall intersection Thursday morning. Reporters in cars and television trucks sped to the scene. The press peppered police for information.

So what was the big story?

Someone bumped into the now-famous red pickup of Janet Reno, former U.S. attorney general and a Democratic candidate for governor.

No one was injured. In fact, Reno's red truck suffered no damage, though the other driver's vehicle sustained about $100 damage.

No police report was filed and no citation was issued, Miami-Dade police said.

The accident occurred at about 9:34 a.m. at the busy intersection of Kendall Drive and 107th Avenue, about five blocks from Reno's home.

Reno, 63, left her home in her red pickup -- in which she has toured the state -- to run some errands. The pickup was hit by a car driven by an unidentified man who pulled out into traffic, police said.

''This was a very minor fender-bender,'' said Nicole Harburger, a Reno campaign spokeswoman. ``Nothing happened!''

Harburger said Reno's health -- the reason for the intense media interest -- did not play any role in the accident. She has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and had a highly publicized fainting incident during a speech in Rochester, N.Y., in January.

''When you're Janet Reno and you get in a fender-bender, you get news helicopters,'' Harburger quipped. ``She's just fine.''

Harburger said Reno and the other driver exchanged insurance information. A county public safety aide who came to the scene did not make any judgment on culpability for the accident.

The Clinton Era must really be over, or else the other driver would have "disappeared" and later they would conclude he committed "suicide" by shooting himself in the back of the head with a rifle. Twice.

Does Janet look like the blonde in the "call girl" cover after all that booze?

If YOU drink it, she might!

Ok, I thought it was Reno that pulled out into traffic. Maybe I was wrong, but then, why wasn't the other guy cited? And if HER pickup was hit, why no damage? Usually the person getting hit has the damage.

And $100 worth of damage? Come on. My car sustains that sitting in the driveway.

My family has been in a number of accidents in FL, all with elderly drivers on the other side, and not once our fault. NOT ONCE has there not been a ticket issued to the other driver.

This crazy broad is why I'm against the Patriot Act.

Can you imagine Janet Reno with that law in place?

My first thought as well. I clearly saw the symptoms during her joke of a campaign here in Florida.

If that had been a Pub, every newpaper would have been screaming for her to withdraw.

I know.

Along with them parking against traffic in the fire lane, that burns me up.

We all wait for Esquire Jack's write up. Let's hope he implicates Castro's operatives and Chavez's drug runners this time.
