yea I agree with what your are saying about the selling of the SS plan (although I feel the media had a lot to do with that, the day it was announced all you heard was how Bush was going to take aways seniors benefits, if it was properly portrayed to the public by the news then public opinion would be completely different, but the media being what it is that is too much to hope for). and also as far as the judges legislating from the bench, yes they are and it is wrong, but it really doesn't matter if it is a liberal or Conservative judge making the legislation it is still wrong (and yes there are far few Conservative judges doing this). This is where the Checks and Balances of the Constitution come into play, Congress has authority to check the judiciary but they aren't the longer they wait to use that right the worse it will get.

I have been fairly disappointed in the congress for a while now, the Republicans in congress need to start acting like the majority party and start to use their constitutional authority to help put the country pack on the right track and that should start with them pulling the reigns on the courts.

How many times in the history of this country has a member of the SCOTUS or district courts been impeached? How many times has a federal districts like the 9th been done away with by an act of congress? Given the statistics, which is going to have practical impact, changing the courts by presidental appointments or impeaching judges? Given what the donks are doing now, do you think impeaching a judge is a good standard for us to set? Donks use a filibuster now. Think what would happen if they decided to hold impeachment hearings for future SCOTUS a few judges who were in the majority that overturnes roe. Currently, they filibuster judges on the behest of Neas, NOW, et al. They will only get more craven and craized as a 10-15 senate seat minority unless they totatly implode in 06 and 09...
