Buttons raise awareness of missing children

SPOKANE -- Some local businesses are doing what they can to bring home the missing Coeur d’Alene Groene children home.

Nine-year-old Dylan Groene and his 8-year-old sister Shasta were last seen alive in mid-May at the home where their 13-year-old brother, mother and her boyfriend were found beaten to death.
G.W. Hunters is asking for donations in return for buttons with photos of the kids.
Patty Collins picked up two of them Saturday. She said the more people see the what the kids look like, the better chance there is of finding them.
In the last few days, more than 70 customers have made donations.
Besides G.W. Hunters, you can get the buttons at Big Smoke, Jiffy Mart, Chinese Gardens, and White Plains restaurants in Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene.
All donations go toward making more buttons and to the Groene family.

Please we are loosing national coverage on these poor children. Their Mother, brother and Mom's friend were brutally murdered. Please everyone can help by keeping your eyes open, get the flyers and put them up, if you go on vacation take them with you. Help bring these children home to their father. It is so sad that they can just disappear. Are there any leads?

None is my understanding. I called Dad's tip line last night to see about where the pins could be found and his dispair in his voice broke my heart. It has to be such a heartwretching thing.
Thank you Alamo girl. They have been on my heart so much. I don't know the family, but it has touched us all. Especially as the time goes by and it is fading as a story.
Hopefully, their not being found with the parents is an indication they were taken alive.
This home can be seen from the freeway and sits off by itself sort of. Though they feel the persons who did this must of come prepared to do it.

This story reminds me of the unpaid drug dealers, murder and kidnap for repayment stories.

Thank you. Their school had a Memorial (for lack of a better term), honoring them and planted 3 plum trees. One for DJ, one for Shasta, and one for Slade (the brother that was killed). They have also put them on the rolls for next school year (DJ & Shasta). They said the kids needed to do something for them before the school was out.
Probably a bad time to bring up the name but it may give some unwanted insight into the family's socioeconomic status.
