I don't see this ending well.

If Japan really does start to militarize themselves, I don't think China will sit back and allow it. These two countries have a very long history and China only has to go back about 70 years to find cause for hatred toward Japan. They don't appear to be over it yet. If fact, with their new-found muscle, they may be seeking a little payback.

If the US wasn't standing next to Japan, this would get bloody in a hurry.

agreed. Japan needs to chill and let us do the heavy lifting. And we just need to be prepared, but simply wait until the current Chinese regime begins to realize that the grass is a lot greener on our side of the fence.
