I'm a little more than half-way through it now, and it is very good. The chapter on "middlemen" is fascinating, and rings true. The complete debunking of the common belief that America is uniquely defined by its past embrace of slavery is also savory.
I sent Sowell a copy of my book, "A Patriot's History of the United States." Two weeks later, I get back a new copy from Hoover of "Black Rednecks . . . ." Just a standard, "Compliments of the author" card inside---no inscription, no autograph, no note. Sowell is indeed an odd guy. Brilliant, but odd.
