We will know in the late summer when its Supreme Court time. Regardless, the "deal" never should have happened. It was a horrible political decision for the RINO-seven as well as the whole Senatorial process, and the Repubs. The Senate is a real mess and that is being kind.

Time will tell, that's for sure. But when I see the likes of Eleanor Holmes and Barbara Boxer wailing at the "damage" the deal has caused, I can't be too upset.

Once these judges go through, word has it that Bush is going to dump a whole bunch of conservative judicial nominees at once. That will cause one of two things to happen: either we'll get those nominees confirmed with no fillibuster or it will be too much for the 7 Dem Senators to bear and they will declare "extraordinary circumstances."

If the former happens, great.

If the latter happens, I suspect Graham and Dewine are itching to get out of this deal with the heat they've been getting and the nuclear option will pass.

It is nice to listen to them wail. But remember, these jerks wail about everything. So it's not like their wailing is proof of anything really. We can't use it as a yardstick for measuring success.

These confirmations are only field goals at best. They will mean nothing if SCOTUS nominations are not comfirmed. And I believe they will be dirtier and uglier than Bork and Thomas. The Supreme Court is the baston of leftist trump cards. At this point I imagine the Dims are at the point that they feel they have nothing to lose no matter what they do to block conservative nominees to that court.

If Bush punts by putting up an ersatz constructionist, a confirmation won't mean jack to us conservatives. It's time to go for the touchdown or get off the field.

They have ratched up the rheotoric so high, I think they're going to have to accuse Scalia of murder.

You're right, Child. The real game will be played when it's a Supreme on the table. The Dims will say (rightly) that they let the guppies go. They'll save their stand for the big fish.

And they will.

So what? How long have these people been waiting? What are we really winning?

But, but, but . . . I thought we "lost" in this. Rush keeps saying so.

DeWine is up for re-elect here, and I'm nearly certain he won't buck conservatives again. His office got an earful last time.

Um, I've seen plenty of games won by field goals.

Dallas once scored seven field goals on MNF to beat the Iggles. Guess what? Still counts as a win. In the end, the filibuster and the "principles" are all so much crap, because the REAL ISSUE is the judges, and if they are confirmed, it doesn't matter whether it was with sugar or vinegar.

My guess: The deal was so the democrats could save face and keep things the way they are. They didn't want to lose all their power, which is what the constitutional option would have done.

Several judges will go through. Then they will get tough and angry and have Goebbels, I mean Dean, start rilin' the troops about being victims of the Jews, I mean the Christians.

Darn......how history repeats itself!

Um, you guys are moving the goal posts (to use Child's analogy). "Well, sure we got all our district court judges confirmed, but they'll REALLY fight us on the USSC nominations."

Maybe. But irrelevant. They still lose. Meanwhile, will you guys PLEASE read Abbe Hoffman and how the radicals advanced their agenda in the '60s? They TOOK WHAT THEY COULD WHEN THEY COULD, then came back and took more after their first demands were met. I see a lot of Abbe Hoffman in the Senate GOP leadership.

What are we winning? Confirmations, my boy, confirmations. The Dems took 40 years to build an ediface, and it will take more than a year or two to dismantle it.

If that's what it takes, they will.

If I thought the GOP was this smart, I might think that the plan all along was to continue to push the Dems further and further left with each confirmation bout so that they, ahem, opposed black women, hispanic men, and gay Jews.

So far, two out of three. Keep an eye out for a Jewish attorney fron SF to be nominated by Bush.
