To start with the reporter didn't say the protesters thought it was the mark of the beast the reporter said that "some christians believe this is the mark of the beast". Some christians believe is a lot different than taking direct quotes from christians at the rally and naming names. This is simply another BS tactic meant to divide conservatives(and it is working to look at this thread) and to re-affirm Dems views about the nutty christian conservatives.

"Beast's mark, number, or name in their hands or on their foreheads."

Actually, children should be fingerprinted by their parents. Always a good idea.

By the parents I agree...but not by a school.

As a Christian, I could confidently say that I don't know of a single Christian that would believe this program is the mark of the Beast. That is another entity. However, I do get nervous when they start gathering information and begin using things that aren't anonymous in order for you to buy or sell. It is a step in the wrong direction.

Biometrics is not fingerprinting. Spend 10 minutes learning how the technology works instead of taking your cures from movies.

Sheesh. It's no-Bible-readin' fools like this what give regular Christians a bad name.

The Mark is NOT a scan, you maroons. A tattoo is a mark. A scar is a mark. A scan is, well, a picture.

No, a scan is not a picture in biometrics. It's a math interpretation.

What the hell you talking about...what movie?

Biometrics identification does not belong at a school. If you believe it has a place there, I hope my kids never go to your kids school.

Movies generally show biometrics as a storage system for images. That is not the case.

I have been thru and to Amite (A meet) a kazillion times...it is about 2 1/2 times the size of a pickup truck bed.

Some jerkwater moron went to visit some kinfolk somewhere in a big city and thought this was a wonderful idea.

These school board members will take these scanners out of the school soon or their houses will start burning (with them in it) .. trust me...keep an eye on it...and NO, Hell NO, it won't be me, I live 4 hrs from there, but i know small town folks that don't like to be pushed.

I knew that. Its the entire thing about using biometrics at our schools. I find it extremely unsettling.

So, what if they used it as an authentication system? No data stored in the school. The kid has a card and the machine compares the fingerprint coding against what exists on the card? In this format it works like a PIN number.

This thread is hugely depressing, people arguing about a technology apparently without the slightest clue as to how it works, the different configurations or formats...yeeesh.

Good point, but it is lost on most.

People claim to believe wholeheartedly in these prophecies. Don't they realize that if the prophecies are coming true, then that means the end of this wicked system of things is near? So WHY would anyone get upset? Why would you try to stop the prophecies from being fulfilled?

I am sad for the pain that is caused as this system degenerates further, but I am very excited and happy as I see prophecies being fulfilled that mark the end of this wicked world of people. The end of Satan's rule is near, and that's why things are getting worse.

I realize my view is not shared by most, but if one reads the Scriptures, it is clear that the early Christians looked forward to the fulfillment of such prophecies, they weren't angry or scared. They certainly didn't PROTEST.

If these people were truly no part of the world, they would not be trying to preserve it.

They have our children's birth certificates and shot records when they started school for identification. Just try and get a child enrolled without one. I do not want my child matched with a PIN number that goes into a data base at school. It does not belong there.

You seem to be the one arguing. I said I don't like the idea, and you spin it and get all technical on me. I don't care how it works, that's not my problem with it. It's that it exist in a school in the first place that has my dander up.

I can't help but "get all technical" on you, since it is technology. However, I'm not spinning anything. Just pointing out that the "data" in a biometric system can't easily be used to recreate a fingerprint.

Given your desire for privacy, this is probably not a good time or place to point out that you probably have your picture taken a dozen or more times a day via security cameras in shopping malls, convenience stores and ATM machines. Or that the discount card at a supermarket tracks all of your purchases and that data belongs not to you, but the supermarket which can sell it -- along with your name, address, etc. -- to anyone they please. There are more examples, but I won't bore you with them by getting all technical. The bottomline is, there is very little privacy in the world today.
