"As much as I like George Allen, I think it's people on FR who are rapidly promoting him for 2008. :-)"

Seems that Allen is the majority choice here. We should start up a Nationwide draft Allen/Rice in 08 movement. Show the US the difference between what we are bringing to the table and the Dems with "the one whose name shall not be mentioned"

"the one whose name shall not be mentioned"

I really like that way of referring to her. I like the Allen/Rice idea, as well.

The Senate is eager to move on to considering energy legislation and spending bills instead of taking up Bush's other appellate nominees, including Henry Saad, William Myers, William Haynes and Brett Kavanaugh. They were not guaranteed confirmation votes in the centrist agreement, and Democrats are expected to try to block all of them.

Frist said Tuesday he wasn't avoiding a fight over those nominations. "As they come out of committee, we're going to bring them to the floor," he said.

Myers' nomination already is pending in the full Senate, and the others have yet to get a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Frist needs to bring Myers to the floor for a vote

NOW!!

As even Mara Liasson noted on Brit's show last night..the compromise isn't turnig out so great for the Dems. Recognizing that the nuclear option, despite what Reid said, is still very much on the table, she said that basically, they've "won the right to filabuster but only if they never filabuster."

I have preaching this fact for many months now. It is just sooooo obvious that Reid will never let the nuclear option come to a vote because he doesn't have to. He can always commit enough Dem Senators to vote for cloture when the the threat of a Frist move to invoke the nuclear looks real. This will keep the filibuster "alive" but only if it looks dead, if it is not used.

Seems obvious to me. It has for a very long time. This is the way it was going to be before the Sell-Out Seven worked their evil brew and, as it turns out, it is still the way it is going to be.

We should start up a Nationwide draft Allen/Rice in 08 movement.

Count me out for now. :-) Nothing against Condi or George (I'm drinking out of my Allen for Senate, '00 cup right now.), but it's just WAY too early for me to start worrying about '08. We have an '05 governor's race here in VA.

The only reason that the Yankees even have A-Rod, is because the Rangers didn't need him anymore...

Have you noticed that every team he leaves, gets BETTER after he leaves....makes ya wanna go hmmmmmmmm....doesn' it?

Thank you for getting us started, Ken. I just had to turn it from Fox News where they are interviewing Spikey Isikoff. I have a lot to do today so will check in periodically. I'll be here at 4:00 though. Here's hoping Frist just keeps pushing them through. Think Steamroller.

What are we up to 2439-7? My dad always taught me never accept anything less than perfection.

ken5050: Most Americans don't even know what a filabuster is.

T b V: Sadly, this is not an exaggeration. What's more, they don't care.

Bless your hearts, you two snobs are just precious.

LOL, Yes the Dems are quite excised that we want ALL of the nominees! To bad for them! I am getting a sense that they are very defeated at this point and that is why they are not out on the floor polluting the air waves. I would Imagine that Jeff Sessions is waiting for one of the Dummy's to go first. Judge Pryor is a friend of his I heard!

Boy, that's a pretty snotty attitude you've got there, and completely uncalled for.

We've all seen news shows about how people don't even know who the vice president is, and it's an established fact an awful lot of people don't know a filibuster from a firebug.
