A man who had been in custody at the Lincoln County Jail for stealing a car was released Saturday evening, and he promptly stole another car, was re-arrested, and was back in jail in time to get a few hours of sleep before breakfast.
Kristopher Martin Korsakas, 22, of Tacoma, Wash., had been arrested May 28 for the theft of a red Honda Prelude, which was found abandoned on Steenson Road in Newport. Authorities were tipped off when Korsakas and a second man, Ronald Arthur Pearsall, 19, of Puyallup, Wash., were seen stealing a license plate from another Honda parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Newport.
The two men eluded police before abandoning the stolen car, but they were later located and arrested.
Korsakas was released from the jail at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Shortly after 8 p.m., he stole a car - another red, Honda Prelude - from the parking lot at JC Market, located about a block from the jail.
Rita Aylstock of South Beach works at JC Market and is the owner of that car. She had just finished her shift and was walking out of the store when she noticed her vehicle's back-up lights on. Her first thought was they had been on all day and that her car wouldn't start. But then the car backed up and took off north on Highway 101.
Aylstock called her husband to make sure he wasn't the one driving the car, and then she called police. Within minutes, the Newport Police Department had notified other law enforcement agencies of the car theft. A short time after that, a Lincoln City police officer spotted the car and began to follow it while calling for assistance.
Korsakas, however, noticed that he was being followed, and he ditched the car near SW 50th Street and Ebb Avenue, at the south end of Lincoln City. Korsakas took off on foot with the officer in pursuit. After jumping over a fence into the back yard of a residence, Korsakas encountered a large dog that got hold of him and took him to the ground. But when the pursuing officer also jumped over the fence, the dog became distracted, and Korsakas got up, jumped back over the fence and ran off.
Eventually, the suspect was found in a nearby marshy area, and he was taken into custody. He was transported back to the jail in Newport, where he was lodged at 1:51 a.m. Sunday, about seven hours after his release.
There is not to many ways out of town bieng on the Coast 101 or Hwy 20 east which is one long trip over the mountain range.
If they cut back off of 20 it is toward my rural area or a road back into town.
We have started locking everything up in the last year crime has gone through the roof in our little rural area.
The guy helping me out with groceries from the above mentioned store (we have the wheelchair lift and it is easier to park way out and walk then take a handi capp spot up front) made a comment that even with the three Labs in the van I have been locking up and I said the way crime has gone nuts yep. Then he told me about the gal having her car taken as mentioned above.
Folks it has gone NUTS! We rarely had any problems and now it is daily with auto thefts and violent crimes.
We have lived here 17yrs we all know each other and came here to escape the rest of the big city crime and we are dumbfounded that crime has found us.
The only thing we have going is the Dogs and being 4 miles out on a old back road that goes up another road ect. To hard to find and out of town but we are locking up regardless and have a cam that feeds to the back of the house were are living and sleeping area is.
The other day over in the Valley some creeps took a guys WC lift van. It is the only means he has to get around due to being WC mode paraplegic.
BTW KV and I were laughing about how much running through brush and marshy areas the LE have been doing lately.
My guess is they are not real happy esp since the terrain is so uneven here on the coast. Blackberry bushes everywhere!
Darn you pic did not come up.
(I know it would be a good chuckle too)
Let's try it again.
LOL
Before 9/11 that is what the local force looked like.
Now we have inter agency City, County and State all working together.
Two cars show up for minor stops.
We use to know the officers by first name too.
Just thought of something: Are you FReeping from behind a firewall (at work?) that blocks access to certain sites? That could explain why you couldn't view the other image.
web tv
Ahhhh. 'Nuff said. < |;D~
Link, please.
It came up now at your original post.
Maybe I just had to refresh.
Well off to bed before shift 1.
Nite.

Thank you
mmmmm...hot blackberry cobbler with a scoop of ice cream on the top.
I would say he had a specific order for a red Honda Prelude, eh?
we're on a mission from God
Yes and I have a no spray policy on mime just pay to cut them back every year so many feet and up keep monthly.
I taught the Labs to enjoy them right off the vine.
On the other side of the property Salmon Berries ripen first.
I see tourist down on the main road picking and always let them know that the county sprays and suggest non spray areas.
Perhaps his knowledge on how to hot wire them.
