The Israel Defense Forces have found a way to block the tunnels Palestinians dig under the Gaza-Egypt border to smuggle in weapons by using a huge trench-digging machine, according to a military publication.
The 100-ton behemoth would dig deep channels along the border route Israel patrols, exposing the tunnels, the soldiers' weekly "Bamahane" reports in its current edition.
The new trenching machine, made U.S. company Trencor Inc., might provide at least an interim answer to the smuggling problem by neutralizing tunnels now in operation.

Another option might be some of the major equipment used in coal strip mine operations. They could dig a canyon with that stuff.

After the Gaza withdrawal, the IDF sells the machine to the local cable company. Got to have that MTV!

Rachel Correy should have stayed around for THIS baby! Whoa! Of course, all the musrats have to do is dig deeper. What Israel should do is have someone fill the trenches with boiling bacon grease. It would leech down into the soil and the diggers would freak when they smelled the bacon.

They need to dig to below sea level, then flood the trench, and make it sufficiently broad for the patrol craft operation. Underwater tunneling is more complicated proposition than digging in the dry.

When are we going to use them on OUR southern border? We're always turning up these people and drug smuggling tunnels. Some even have electrical supply!

Sweet! It's too bad they can't use something like
"Big Muskie""Big Muskie" could dig a trench 185 ft deep. In her working lifetime, Big Muskie removed over 608,000,000 cubic yards of overburden (twice the earth moved during the construction of the Panama Canal), uncovering 20,000,000 tons of clean coal. She cost a mere $25 million to build in 1969.

Kind of a Koran chipper-shredder...
