This was once home of the famous gillys... How time changes things...

Sr. y Sra. Smith opens Friday at Cinema Latino de Pasadena, where movie goers can buy Chicharritos or Vero Elotes from the concession stand before heading to their seats.

Forget salt and butter. Popcorn can be topped with spicy Salsa Valentina.

The typically Mexican treats are just part of the distinctive experience at the six-screen, 1,110-seat theater, which opened last month. It shows first-run Hollywood films, subtitled or dubbed in Spanish, and an assortment of Latin American movies usually relegated to limited runs at art houses.

I'm torn on this one.

One part says "Learn the freakin' language, and stop refusing to assimillate!"

And the Capitalist says, "Good for them for seeing a potential market in which to make some money".

On the good Capitalist side of things, reading this post lead me to do a touch of research and I found this: Crunch Time

Interesting article on an enterprising individual.

Listen to the first part. I think it was Marx himself who said that the capitalists will sell us the rope we will hang the with. Even capitalism can go too far when there are no other values than making a buck. This has gone too far. We are losing our country. These people are not assimilating into America. They are turning parts of America into Greater Mexico.

Wow. Didn't take long for someone to prove your point. This country is in serious trouble.

That's not enough. There are larger issues than that. Some estimates put the illegal population in this country as high as 20 million. They have put a tremendous strain on our medical, educational, prison and other resources. These are all hidden costs that the US tax payer ends up paying. Moreover, unlike other "immigrants" who went through a specific process to come into this country legally, be inspected (or rejected) for health issues, and did not immediately go on welfare (as it didn't exist), these illegals don't do any of that. They have no intention of becoming Americans - they are Mexicans who use and abuse our systems against us. They have brought in many diseases that we didn't used to have before, such as leprosy and have re-introduced TB and other illnesses that are both spreading and costing us a fortune to treat. This is not "whatever, dude". This policy of allowing all these illegals in here and catering to them is costing us money and is ultimately going to cost us part of our sovereignty.

It's too bad that there are so many people in this country who are willing to sell out the US for a buck. That's what it comes down to.

Absolutely. It is that attitude that will destroy this country. "Whatever, dude". THe simple fact that they are here ILLEGALLY means they are starting off by breaking our laws. and then it goes downhill from there.

"It's too bad that there are so many people in this country who are willing to sell out the US for a buck."

I can see you care, but your words are falling on deaf ears. There are people that would sell their mother for a buck. There are people, unfortunately lots of them, that don't care about anything except what they will make this week. They have always been around. The problem is, there seems to be a LOT more of them these days.

Yes, we can see that. Those Muslims values for example. I'm sure they're as good as anything we'd have in this country, right? Especially if they're willing to pay us for something.

Yeah, I can see that, FRiend, but I have to make an effort. At least we can vent on FR, even if there are people out there who just don't get it - or won't until it's too late. But maybe the rest of us can do something. Look at the Minuteman project - they were very effective. They're heroes to me.

"what does watching a movie in Spanish have to do with Values... "

It's a bigger issue. Actually, it's playing into the hands of the left. America was once the great melting pot. People came from all over, but in the end, they were American. They spoke English, and aspired to be American.

Now, America is the land of diversity. Multi-cultural, Multi-lingual. Save your culture for home, and for your private clubs. In public, be American! I don't believe any country has survived as a world leader under the stress of being multi-lingual. Human nature dictates that. Most people when they are around someone speaking another language assume they are being talked about, or mocked. This creates tension.

Having a huge Spanish language theater in the U.S. is not far from blessing a multi-lingual nation.

I hope you enjoy living in a 3rd world country. It's coming to a town near you.
