A Brooklyn College professor who described religious people as "moral retards" said he is dropping his bid to become chairman of the department of sociology after the college's president expressed outrage over his views.
Timothy Shortell, an associate professor in the sociology department at the CUNY senior college, sent a bitter e-mail on Monday to several departmental heads saying he had decided to step down as chairman-elect and claiming he was a victim of a political attack.
Yesterday, the college's administration, led by the president, Christoph Kimmich, announced that Mr. Shortell declined the appointment but would be consulting on the future leadership of the department.

So the bigot is now claiming to be a victim? What's he got against morals? For that matter, what's he got against the retarded? Seems like he's the fool to not have learned from this same kind of gaff by Al Gore and his "extra chromosome" slam.

What bothers me here is that HE DROPPED HIS OWN BID for the job.
Apparently, the administrators of the school did not think it was a big enough deal to withdraw the offer.
This withdrawal MIGHT have been a "face saving" measure. In the corporate world, it would be like offering an employee the chance to resign, rather than firing him/her. I don't know, i'm just speculating. Maybe the administration pressured him to withdrawal, or else they WOULD have denied the request.

Now there are consequences when you cross over to the darkside in a vicious attack.

Last semester, I endured a class "taught" by someone who must have been his twin brother.
I feel sorry for college "kids" these days. all they want is a good all around education to be productive members of society. Pay a fortune in tuition, and what do they get for their money. Ignorant,idiots for professors. SAD.
