Your statement is incorrect, there are literally millions of defense contracting companies.

If you factor in the foreign based firms perhaps a million world wide. Perhaps thousands would be a better quantity?

You also have to take in to account the fact that companies like IBM, AT&T and Oracle do significant defense contracting as well.
