The internet is definetly becoming a bigger and bigger source, but alot of these sites are just conservatives preaching to the choir. Foxnews reaches enough people to raise public conciousness of an event to the point where the rest of the media has to report it. It's very important. Yeah, but Brit Hume is a Power Line reader, as are many libs in the MSM as well as conservative radio hosts. That site and others have a lot of opinion making leverage. It and other blogs kick start stuff like this.
