I guess she's probably most remembered as Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate."

But I'll never forget her for her role as Mary Magdeline in "Jesus of Nazareth." She was great in that movie.

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

NEW YORK — Anne Bancroft (search), the actress who famously portrayed cradle-robbing seductress Mrs. Robinson in the 1967 movie "The Graduate," has died, said a spokesman for her husband, producer Mel Brooks. She was 73.

Bancroft won the 1962 best actress Oscar as the teacher of a young Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker," but achieved greater fame as the seducer of her daughter's boyfriend in "The Graduate."

She died of cancer, spokesman John Barlow said Tuesday.
