Bob Jones U. Bans Abercrombie and Fitch Clothing Line: For 'Wickedness' & 'Antagonism to Christ'
The Huffington Post ^ | 6/7/05 | Arianna Huffington

Crackpots. Do they do a strip search to determine what the students are wearing?

Yeah, I believe so. They own a ton of stuff. A&F was an old brand that was well known but tanking. Basically bad management. The Limited came in, bought the name and revitalized the brand through racy ads and catalogue.

Just noticed the BJU dress code for women says "tops must be long enough that the midriff is never exposed".

What that means, as a practical matter, is that BJU has "blinked" when it comes to women's trousers, unless they are banning pants on women and I missed that part.

It's probably not possible to purchase women's trousers that rise above the crotch these days.

Since Yeshua/Jesus obeyed Torah perfectly...

In the spirit of arguementativeness....

Wouldn't he have had to stone the adultress to have obeyed the Torah perfectly?

A&F is about the hottest thing going in the malls, it seems like.

No. Because the whole proceeding was illegal because her partner wasn't there. Torah says both parties are supposed to be stoned. Since only one party was being accused, Yeshua knew it was a trap and an unlawful proceeding. However, rather than calling them on it, he took the time to teach a greater principle.

That is false. The commerce clause has nothing to do with private behavior. Now a State could not do this but BJU can.

Uh, the Limited is also a major investor in malls. The secret to their success is to cluster the different stores/brand names. All deliveries made with a single truck from one nearby warehouse, which receives its goods via one shipment on boats...they hit every market segment through a single supply chain. Boring stuff, but brilliant.

Liz Claibourne "support" of the Church of Satan sounds like an urban myth.

but did the Sears catalogue feature two-page photo spreads of totally nude men hanging from hooks on the ceiling of a steam room? A&F's catalogue goes far beyond simple underwear ads.

I know they own Victoria's Secret (down market) and Henri Bendel (up market) as well as some candle company. They own a ton of stuff along with developing a couple dozen shopping malls. These are very, very bright guys.

Your leg has been successfully pulled. That was a thinly veiled attempt to drag the Medical Marijuana issue into this thread. Muggs99 was establishing, in his mind, some sort of rough equality between BJU and MJ.

I would encourage him to give it up ~ even non bud people figure that one out too readily for it to be fun.
