No! The "homo" comes from the word "homo sapian" = which is another word for human. Here's what Webster had to say about it: "Etymology: New Latin, species name, from Homo, genus name + sapiens, specific epithet, from Latin, wise, intelligent"

You still aren't getting it. "Homocide" is a misspelling; the word is, unless I'm greatly mistaken, "homicide."
