Just now reported, he was shot by a spotter, who said the suspect pointed a gun towards police near the end of the incident.

There was no risk to fellow motorists, and therefore imo, they should have just shot the hell out of him.

Turns out they did. So lets recap, he was flashed banged, possibly tasered, ripped apart by a German Shepard, and then they shot him.

Defiantly a dog day afternoon for the suspect.

Now reporting it was a planned kidnap / ransom attempt. This guy was bad news.

The suspect called a tv station? Did he grant a phone interview or what?

Any idea who he is and whether he's wounded unto death? Has he been carted off to jail? Did the dog bite him or just frighten him?

Well. I strongly disapprove of dicking around for half a day with dealing with a very simple situation. Thirty minutes, tops, after they got him stoppd - git 'er done.

I agree. Who knows how many people could have died (or did die) because an ambulance was stuck in traffic. They should have ended it much sooner once it was clear the perp would not cooperate. The potential danger to a gridlocked person in need of medical care was too great.

Dog ripped him up good, after they flashed banged his vehicle, (had to sound like a howizer going off) they shot him, then the dog made a meal of him. He may have been tasered too.

The are reporting he is still alive.

There were NO scraps for the dog...daddeee-o

Stace, I washed it down with you know what (B)...lol

Ernest - my appetite was merely whetted by your pic of M&M's. I"ve been living on just water trying to break a fever so I was HUNGRY. I am now going to have a huge bowl of ice cream: chocolate chip cookie dough. :)

thanks Black Tooth. I don't live in CA any longer, and will never get any news about it other than right here. What a total bummer to have the busy I-10 out of commission all day. Couldnt' they have tear-gassed the perp into submission early on?

Came in late. I don't know how long the 10 was actually down.

I just heard something funny. The news just reported the LA Sheriff Dept says the suspect is "OK". Even the news guys had to stifle a laugh. This after being flashed banged, becoming dog chow, possibly tasered, and shot.

Yeah, I though I saw some shots fired. I'd prolly rather be shot than chewed on by a police attack dog for 1 minute.

LOL dog chow!

The perp started his adventure at 8:30 this morning in Thousand Oaks, according to reports. It's been a long day for the police and commuters for sure. And that dog was sure hungry by the time he was allowed his snack.

I'll bet.

I must say, the dog really did an outstanding job, considering radio noise, loud flash bangs going off, gun shots, vehicle was smoked out, visibility was almost zero in the van. Despite all this, the Shepard stayed totally focused on the bad guy.

I ate, but drank a lot of water trying to break my fever. Finally broke this morning. I got dehydrated loading that debris bin in the sun last week.

If we try hard enough, we could see some attitude changes from the powers that be, on this subject of idiots holding the roads hostage.

Can't wait to turn on the 10:00pm evening news. I'll bet it's still tied up : (

What is that about?

Or maybe it would be more reasonable to ask where is that happening.?

To reply to your earlier post, if enough people complain, change will happen. I missed the suspect getting shot, and the dog having an afternoon snack. Like I said....Good Doggie!

I pinged for a pic of a cat walking past police dogs early on. It's pretty cool, plus shows the discipline of these dogs.
