TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Republican Rep. Katherine Harris, who as Florida's secretary of state was both praised and vilified for her part in the 2000 presidential recount, said Tuesday she will run for the Senate next year against Democrat Bill Nelson.

He should have sent the state troopers in to rescue her. The dirtwater cops in Pinellas County wouldn't have messed with them and his brother wouldn't have gotten the Feds involved to stop him.

Easy to say, but impossible to do, legally. State Troopers tried to relieve the local, but it was countermanded by the Judge.

Frankly they should have cleared the whole area for a half mile around.

Jeb! for Senate. Nellie will move right with his votes (he already has on a few) and will be tough to beat. What exactly has Harris done to show she is Senatorial material? Sure, she has name recognition, but a good portion of that is negative. We did enough eating of our own in the primary that chose Mel. We got away with that partially because it was an open seat. Bill Nelson will be a much more formidable opponent. We need a solid front-runner before the primary and Jeb is the one who can make the primary competition fade away.
