Hope your right. It's the 8% that the tricky part. I am almost certain that if Forrester wins the social conservatives will stay home in droves.

Well, I am headed out for my evening church meeting. When I return there will be either weeping or cheering in Mountainside.

"I am almost certain that if Forrester wins the social conservatives will stay home in droves."

It will be very difficult to say the least for Forrester to be able to motivate conservatives to go vote when he stands for so many liberal principles. Still, he's far preferable to Corzine, and if Forrester ends up winning (which I hope he doesn't) I hope he extends an olive branch to conservatives, adopts a more conservative platform and beats Corzine in November.

And if Schundler wins, I hope the RINOs who deserted him in 2001 think about how they agree with Schundler on a heck of a lot more issues than they do with Corzine, and just as they voted heavily for Reagan in the 1980s they should extend their support to Schundler in 2005. Schundler is not as conservative as George W. Bush, and Corzine is even more liberal than John Kerry, so I think the Kerry 52.92%, Bush 46.24% result from 2004 can be turned into Schundler 50%, Corzine 49% in 2005. And did you hear that a former Democrat mayor will run as an independent for governor? PoliticsNJ.com reported that: "Former Stafford Mayor Wesley Bell, who said several months ago that he would run in the Democratic gubernatorial primary but never filed nominating petitions, filed today as an Independent candidate. Bell, who has run for U.S. Senate and State Senate, has lost four mayoral bids since being ousted in 1983. (06/07/05)" Sounds like Bell won't get many votes, but in a close race any votes he takes away from Corzine could be crucial to a GOP victory.

Some Christie-Whitman wannabe (complete with an overbite yet) from Forrester's campaign was just on NJN telling the reporter how their strategy is second to none. Which would be what, send a flyer to every house every other day?

Someone from Bret's campaign is on now.

I'm not all that much of a social conservative, and even *I* will stay home if Forrester wins.

Schundler better win this, or today is the day Jon Corzine wins the Gubernatorial election.

Corzine still managed to eke out a 2% win against a Republican that he outspent like 10:1.

I checked the numbers today. 51-47%

A lousy phot of Bret. I have to look at my pics from CPAC a few years ago. I have a great one of him up close.

Hard to believe that it's already been four years since I sat in my home office cheering along with most of FR as Bret completed a huge comeback and won the 2001 primary.

Yeap, Bret is a rising star in the GOP. Too bad he has to run in campaigns in NJ.

I spoke to him awhile back and mentioned how angry I was with the NJ GOP for not backing him, (including the then acting REPUBLICAN governor.) Since then I have NEVER given to the NJ GOP, I give to individual candidates.

Why haven't I seen you on this thread? I'm guessing you're busy working the polls. :-)

"I checked the numbers today. 51-47%"

According to Adam Carr, the final result was 50.1%-47.1%, which splits the difference between what we each said. http://psephos.adam-carr.net/countries/u/usa/congress/senate2000.txt

This site shows the same 50.1%-47.1% margin, and says that Corzine outspent Franks by over 14:1: http://www.gwu.edu/~action/states/nj.htm

AGREED! My household went anti-forrester because they interruped dinner 7 nights in-a-row!

Is there a live county-by-county vote result site? Doug's people look too happy.
