Burmas military junta, State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) has been tightening security measures, not because it wants to capture the real culprits who planted recent deadly bombs in Rangoon, but conmen who cheated money from the children of top generals, according to sources close to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The conmen are said to be the brother in law of former minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry Maj Gen Nyunt Tin, U Myo Hein, and the son in law of Naval officer Maj Gen Paw Tun, U Thant Sin.
Myo Hein is the managing director of a Singapore-based import-export company and cheated nearly US$ 15m from Myanmar Economic Bank, some ministerial departments and around 30 business owners, according to a businessperson who became his victim.
Among the biggest victims of Myo Hein are U Tayza, the son in law of SPDC chairman Gen Than Shwe and vice-chairman Maung Ayes daughter Nandar Aye, according to the same person. The order for the arrests of Myo Hein and his abettors were issued by Than Shwe himself with beefed up security measures, according to the CID sources.
But observers said Myo Hein, Nyunt Tin and their families must have escaped to foreign countries by now, as their properties have been sealed off.
Similarly, Thant Sin cheated at least US$ 5m from the same people.
SPDC = same people different clothes
U Tayza, possibly the richest man in Burma, is not General Than Shwe's son-in-law but apart from that the article may be accurate.
The reason of May 7 bomb blast was found eventually.
