Anti-War and Social Justice Groups Dear Upchuck, The mass Septembe r 24 demonstration in Washington, D.C. is shaping up to be a powerful showing of true unity as communities, a nti-war and social justice groups are coming together to organize a massive mobilization showing principled solidarity and resistance to Bush 's war drive and quest for Empire. The breadth of this display of unity tha t cuts across all backgrounds is an incredible response to the September 24 call issued by the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition on May 12. We want to welcome the National Council of Arab Americans, the Muslim Am erican Society Freedom Foundation, the National Lawyers Guild, Congresswoma n Cynthia McKinney, Michael Berg - father of Nicholas Berg, ProLibertad/Fre edom Campaign, Office of the Americas, Haitian Lawyers Leadership Network, DC Healthcare Coalition, Free Palestine Alliance - U.S., Haiti Support Netw ork, Alliance for Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines, Kabataang Maka Bayan (KmB) Pro-People Youth, A.N.S.W.E.R. Youth and Student National Coal ition, Students Against Empire, National Committee to Free the Cuban Five, Ecumenical Program on Central America and the Caribbean (EPICA), Frente Soc ialista de Puerto Rico - New York committee, Dorothy Day Catholic Worker - Washington DC, Popular Education Project to Free the Cuban Five, Al-Awda Pa lestine Right of Return Coalition - San Francisco, Filipino Workers Associa tion (FWA), People's Law Resource Center, Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, Wo men Against Military Madness, Hudson Valley Activist Newsletter, Arise for Social Justice, and so many others to a growing coalition of those who are demanding "Stop the war in Iraq - Bring the troops home now" and "End colon ial occupation from Iraq to Palestine to Haiti and everywhere". (See below for the A.N.S.W.E.R. Call to Action.) The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition sent a letter to United for Peace and Justice on May 12 proposing a principled united front demonstration for September 24 to ensure the largest possible mobilization against the Bush administrat ion's global war drive. Meanwhile, more than 3,500 organizations and indivi duals have endorsed the call. It is clear that the people of this country a re mobilizing again to be in the streets to show massive opposition. While the Bush administration's approval rating continues to dro p and the people of the United States turn increasingly against the war and occupation of Iraq, all the communities that are targeted by the Bush admi nistration's policies, both abroad and here in the United States, are comin g together to build a powerful grassroots movement. Last week, cov erage of the demonstration was reported in media outlets in more than 100 c ities in the U.S. and around the world. AFP (Agence France-Presse) reported that "A US anti-war group vowed to surround the White House in a sea of de monstrators during coordinated protests scheduled to take place in Washingt on, as well as Los Angeles and San Francisco on September 24." See bel ow for a list of some of the cities where there was press coverage. Funds urgently ended We have received a tremendous response to our appeal to raise $50,0 00 for seed money for organizing the demonstrations in Washington DC, San F rancisco and Los Angeles. We can't do it without the sacrifice and generosi ty of people who want to make this movement grow. We still need to meet our goal and we are appealing for everyone to consider making a much n eeded contribution. They make it sound like everyone in the nation is behind them.
I guess that's what you call poetic justice :)
Mark Saturday, Sept 24, 2005 on your calendars FReepers. Let's show these scumbags some REAL American spirit.
ANSWER barf alert pingers.
Hehe. Thanks for the update.
What the @%!* are the "Pro-People Youth"?
Look at that list of groups. It's another desperate gathering of all the liberal flakes in one place, hoping they can look like a functional political force.
I think these things are great, personally: it gives Americans a look at the freaks and losers who are now _dictating_ policy to the Democrats. I think the whole demonstration should be televised live, with interviews and everything. It would be worth about 10 electoral votes and $100 million in donations in the next Presidential election for the Republicans.
A bunch of Filipino commies. Here's their website.
Went to the website:
Together we'll demand:
Fund People's Needs - Not War & Occupation!
Stop the Budget Cuts!
Stop Bush! Stop Schwarzenegger!
Hands Off Social Security!
Full Rights for All Immigrants! - my personal favorite
The list of participants is illuminating, isn't it? It would be difficult to find a more anti-American group.
ping
Protest Warrior will be planning a counter protest of the anti-America protestors on this day. We need all of you pro America, pro military, true blooded Americans to join us. We are still in the planning stages of this operation which is named Defend the White House. More information to come about this.
In their case, "social" and "justice" are contradictions in terms. If there WERE any "social justice", these COMMUNISTS would go to the wall for Treason.
Please put me on a ping list for this.
I will be in DC on the 24th for sure.
I want into this list, too. I have a group blog and and a group of bloggers who want to organize and get more information out on this. Anything you can do to help organize so we can get the word out is appreciated.
