The federal court said the voters had the right to change the law. The Bush administration said "take your court and shove it". The voters appealed to the USSC. The USSC said "take your votes and your constitutional rights and shove 'em!"

Why bother? The Robed Nazgul will say that your overturning is Un-Constitutional!
Or, they'll just disregard the overturning, and reaffirm their judgements from on high!

If everyone slavishly obeys the law, there can never be a groundswell to change it. Therefore the best and only way to push for changing the law is to ignore it and let them try to put five or ten million in jail.
