Uh, no, the Death Star was just beginning construction at the end of Episode III. At the beginning of Episode IV it was almost fully operational. So it took ~20 years to build a space station the size of a planet. Not bad if you ask me.

Not bad if you ask me.OTOH, by the time Return of the Jedi rolled around, the Empire had the Death Star built to replace the one blown up in Episode IV about halfway finished, with a working main gun.

So it took 20 years to build the first one, but only a year or so to almost finish the second?
