Got an idea. If US citizens can pay for toll roads, toll bridges / tunnels at $7 to $12 one way per trip, then why don't the US charge all folks $25 per person, per 18 wheeler, etc. per legal border crossing (either direction) to pay for border enforcement? OK, illegals wouldn't be paying when crossing, but if caught, that would be a direct charge to get them to pay that fee plus a list of other fines. If they don't have the money, then they can work it off at $5 / hour building The Southern Wall. Then we'll just catapult them over the border (with a chute) back into the country from which they originally crossed.

If they don't cooperate, then they can keep working for free until they decide to tell officials which country they came from. Then, they can finish working until they've bought and paid for their own one-way plane ticket back to their own country. Sure would help the airlines out, wouldn't it.

I heard a speaker comment that Congress has managed to pass a national ID system for foreign-born cows, so that we can electronically keep track of every single cow that crosses the border for food safety purposes. This same speaker then asked, "Why don't we just give every person coming into this country one of those cows?"
