So if Brees has anywhere near the type of season he had last year what do you hope the Chargers can get for trading Rivers?

I'm not a big Brees fan and I'm inclined to use the Bobby Beathard strategy and take a gamble to give my team a shot at winning the Super Bowl. Brees looks like a guy who can take you to the AFC championship game or maybe get you into the Super Bowl but he's not likely to win the Super Bowl. Rivers seems to have more long-term potential and is the kind of QB who can win the Big Game. If it was up to me, I would have started Rivers last year even with the contract holdout. I thought it was short-sighted for SD to start Brees and now they're in a situation where they have to make a decision and they don't know enough about Rivers.

I almost hope Brees gets a minor injury to put Rivers on the field and give us a look at what he can do. I really think the right decision for the long run is to keep Rivers and trade Brees, but Brees is filling the stadium and you can bet SD management will trade Rivers instead. I can see one scenario where Brees might win the Super Bowl--the Phil Simms scenario where Brees plays very efficiently like Simms and SD has a dominating defense and strong running game like the Giants had the year Simms won in the Super Bowl. That could happen. But I bet we end up trading Rivers and get a #1, #2, and #3 pick and a huge offensive lineman off somebody's practice squad.
