Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Domenici is getting antsy---jeez, the Reps aren't fighting very hard for this...betcha Feinstein's amendment passes...
What a bunch of wimps!!!
I have to go to bed---early day going to my daughters to watch my little bitty granddaughter...
I'll be able to be on the computer more tomorrow...if they are in session...I'll look for you...
Have a good evening, I think we have the votes! Otherwise Domenici would be fighting harder.
Did I miss anything good? I was watching Design On A Dime on HGTV.
Well Feinstein, Levin, Kennedy, Clinton and Kerry are all opposed to us STUDYING bunker buster Nuke combo's but other than that no!
I am thinking I was in Jumior High! Belushi and Ackroid?
a-HA! That's what had Warner's shorts in a knot.
You Betcha!
Yah, I think SNL for the first few years (began in 1975 I think) was pretty funny. Went steadily downhill once the 80's began, IMO!
Geeze I'm not used to having the Senate in session this late. They must really not want to be there tomorrow!
That's about right I started Jr. High in 1976.
OH here we go, it's about the children!
Well nothing else is on! I have usually moved to Nick at Night, by now or fallen asleep, but I drank to many diet cokes today!
DiFi is another one of those RATs who speak softly (implying that equals being correct) like Daschle did. I saw through that, I was not mocked!
I'm praying that Reagan can be guiding us from wherever he is now. We need him more than ever. I loved it when he spoke of peace through strength. He knew that you don't negotiate successfully from a position of weakness.
She done ticked off Senator Domenici!
I hope President Reagan is watching over us, because he was right! Peace through strength, Trust but verify!
OMG Kerry again. I think he's been at senate sessions in the past 6 months more than he was in 20 years. "Traitor, change your tie!!"
It's good that he's there we will have him on record being a moron!
Great McStooge can tell time!
McPain keeps repeating the same thing. $31.5billion of the taxpayers' money. He gets on my nerves.
"Can you say Pander boys and girls? I knew you could!"
McBloviator!
I think I'm gonna mosey to bed... I have an early job interview tomorrow. sigh
Good Luck!
