I can see the Democrats trying to block ANY Bush Supreme Court pick on the grounds that he may be impeached and so shouldn't be allowed to choose judges until that issue is resolved.

You may well be right....on its face, this is at best redundant, and could only cause some grumbling and endless controversy/whining on its own legs.....but as an extraneous factor in the coming appointments, well...sorta like Clarences pubic hair, yes?
