John Kerry Reportedly To Present "Downing Street Memo" To Congress

June 5, 2005 7:36 a.m. EST

Douglas Maher - All Headline News Staff Reporter

Washington,D.C. (AHN)- After remaining almost silent since losing the 2004 election by thirty four electoral votes, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts is reportedly planning to to present Congress with The Downing Street Memo, reported last month by the London Times.

The memo purports to include minutes from a July 2002 meeting with Tony Blair, in which Blair allegedly said that President Bush's administration "fixed" intelligence on Iraq in order to justify the Iraqi war.

The Downing Street Memo is a leaked Top Secret document that details the minutes of a 2002 meeting between top-level British and American government officials.

The memo states that George Bush "was determined" to attack Iraq long before going to Congress with the matter, and that "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Rumblings across Washington and the Internet claim this is a step from Democrats towards impeachment of President Bush.

Fellow Democrat Rep. John Conyers of Michigan has issued a statement on the U.S. House of Representatives stating that he is seeking information regarding the meeting minutes.

"I am seeking information regarding the charges made in the so-called “Downing Street Minutes” that there was a secret agreement between the U.S. and the U..K to invade Iraq by the summer of 2002, well before the president sought congressional authority." Conyers said.

"Please provide us with any information or leads you might have regarding such a secret pre-war deal, or other efforts to manipulate intelligence or provoke a response to justify war. We will treat any information provided on this site as confidential. Thank you for your assistance in this important matter."

However, All Headline News has re-discovered that a bill signed by then President Clinton named "The Iraqi Liberation Act of 1998" gave President Bush all of the legal recourse necessary for the war.

Stating directly from the bill: "Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 - Declares that it should be the policy of the United States to seek to remove the Saddam Hussein regime from power in Iraq and to replace it with a democratic government. "

The H.R. 4655 law was signed into effect October 31,1998.

Republicans plan to issue a response to Senator Kerry by using his own words against him, a tactic used in the 2004 Election. Where Sen. Kerry was quoted as saying the war was justified and Saddam Hussein needed to be removed.

True .. and Rush kept saying this when Congress kept demanding that President Bush get their approval to go war - Rush was shocked because this 1998 Act already gave Bush approval.

"My bet, and it's just a hunch, is that Dean is out after the Dems lose seats in 06."

Well, I thought the same about McAuliffe.

Quite frankly, I still think what I thought on the morning of 9/11/01, there will never be another Democrat in the White House in my lifetime. I'm 47 now.

If the pubbies stay wobbly on immigration, that gives the dims an opening.

Here's the long lost video footage of Jean Francois Skerry leading a team upriver into Cambodia. Circa December 1968.

It's entertaining that the Dems have been taken over by lunatics, but I don't expect it to last into the 08 season. I bet they come to their senses and put up a real candidate, and that won't mean HRC.

Thats why we need to get the word out:

If the Dems thought this had any legs, it seems to me that they would have chosen someone other than sKerry to present it to the Senate. It just looks bad coming from the defeated candidate for Prez. He comes off as a sore loser of the first order. Any lingering respect I had for him after his concession (and there isn't much left) will evaporate if JK goes through with this.

I said this on the original thread .. but it bears repeating here:

Having read the memo myself - which is and will be available to the public also - it's really a stretch to come to the conclusion that we "fixed" intel. You have to twist yourself into a pretzel in order to come to that conclusion.

But .. we are well aware the dems are willing to do ANYTHING to get their power back. The dems don't care if it tears the country apart and causes harm to the President's ability to deal with other nations. The dems hate the fact that international opinion of GWB is changing in GWB's favor. This is also part of the equation.

And .. the dems have Hillary's expertise as part of the legal team who tried to impeach Nixon. With that experience, the dems think they have a edge in trying to get Bush.

WE CAN STOP THIS DEAD IN IT'S TRACKS - HOW ..?? GET UP OFF YOUR BLESSED ASSURANCE AND WORK YOUR FANNY OFF TO GET YOUR REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVE ELECTED IN 2006. IF WE CAN SWAMP THE CONGRESS WITH EVEN MORE REPUBS - IT WILL SEND A VERY POWERFUL MESSAGE; to both dems and repubs alike.

I DARE YOU !!

And .. if you're thinking of trying to whine your way out of this by saying the repubs in office now aren't doing what we want .. THEN HOW ABOUT GIVING THEM AN OVERWHELMING BACK-UP SUPPORT OF MORE REPUBS - it's better than staying home and feeling sorry for yourself.

We did it before .. so you have to ask yourself .. is AMERICA worth doing it again ..??

OR .. ARE WE GOING TO JUST SIT THERE LIKE A LUMP AND ALLOW THE DEMS TO GET AWAY WITH THIS ..??

This coming from Hanoi Kerry. I hope the Swiftboat Vets are still mounting a campaign to get rid of this traitor to our country once and for all. Between Kerry, Dean and his latest remarks, the Clintons, Harry Reid, Robert Byrd, Kennedy and all the rest of the liberal wackos, they can't possibly hope to gain ground using subversive tactics and speaking their insane rhetoric. They are losing ground fast. Even many of my liberal coworkers are changing their tune lately. They are beginning to see the light, thanks to all the shenanigans that are being pulled by the libs in power.

Kerry's got his hand up his nose on this one. I've read this stupid memo, which has no substance whatsoever and is probably a forgery at most. When the time comes on Free Republic, we need to dissect this farce, like you guys did to Mr. Rather-biased.

John Kerry, who says he doesn't like outsourcin', wants to outsource our national security.

"How did Madame Hillary trick M. Kerry into doing this?"

And .. as an aside .. I am just wondering if Hillary set this up with Rangel (getting it started) .. in order to lure Kerry to make a further fool of himself .. thereby taking Kerry out of the running for the nomination.

Just a thought!

I bet they come to their senses and put up a real candidate, and that won't mean HRC.

WHO, WHO, WHO would it be?

Bayh/Richardson would flip Indiana and New Mexico into their column. Allen will win the GOP nomination and should select someone like Pawlenty or Rudy to carry a Blue State. Of course, HRC has the dirt on Bayh and Richardson so this may not happen.

Bayh and Allen, who are now in the Senate were former Governors.

Impeachment is the prerogative of the House, not the Senate, and I'm sure Conyers is well aware of the memo, and might even have a copy of it.

So, Kerry is superfluous right now, as usual.

Ain't gonna happen. Old horseface is a horse's ass, but he's too lazy to get exercised about anything beyond his next day spa trip.
