It already has been, do a google on it. The benefits of sunshine outweigh the risks of sun cancer.
I'll take my chances. Can't be any worse than having that airbag blow up in your face, damn near break your neck in the process, burn the hell out of your arms and slam you in the chest so hard that breathing is painful for weeks afterwards.
Have your seat raised. Unbolt it from the floor and have some thick sleeves and longer bolts installed under it.
Thank you all for your suggestions. You guys are the best.
:)
Can we sue Ralph Nader?
Yeah but they outlawed the lead based paint because the X ray beams from the Government's spy satelites couldn't penetrate it. Now they can watch you at will so be sure to have your tin foil hat handy.
I had both airbags deploy in an accident a few years ago. I had burns on my arms and on my chest (and ruined my favorite top!) I also had bruises on my face and was temporarily knocked out. I was going 35 or less at the time, with a seatbelt on. I am pretty sure the airbag did more harm than good. Ever since then, I keep as far back as I can and watch my hand position. I also am nervous about wearing my sunglasses (but still wear them) because I found out there can be some major eye damage if the bag slams the glasses into the eyes. I am also careful about music or air adjustments when driving, too. If your head is a little bit forward and down (even if you are still watching the road), it can be very dangerous if the bag hits.

Try the JC Whitney catalog, (online) they have EVERYTHING!
Er...eating lead paint does tend to lead to irreversible brain damage.
And speaking of, based on my (limited) knowledge of neuroanatomy, the type of brain injuries in car accidents you're describing are the result of the brain smashing into the front of the skull, which will happen with any rapid deceleration in the forward direction. I'd be very skeptical of anyone who said that brain damage in a car accident was caused primarily by the airbag and not by the force of the accident itself. Id the crash was severe enough to have the head hit the air bag hard enough to cause brain damage, it would likely have been severe enough to cause the person to fling forward and maybe hit the steering wheel. with similar results.
I would have no problem with people who don't use seatbelts or helmets, except that based on our current healthcare structure, my tax dollars are being spent on keeping you alive because of your own choice to whack into your steering wheel at 70 MPH. The damage of that is a lot worse than the damage caused by a seatbelt. That, and the minor possibility that you can get launched out of your windshield and hurt someone else.
Look in child equipment catalogs or on line. There are belt adjusters that are made for kids that get the seatbelt where it's supposed to be, on shorter bodies.
I am usually sitting quite close to the steering wheel and wearing sunglasses. I am concerned about the airbag. How can we disconnect it?
I often have my 13-year-old son in the front seat as well, because the back seat is full. At least he sits farther back than I have to, but still, isn't there a way to get rid of the airbag? This scares me.
I can believe it. Thanks to seatbelts, my daughter walked away from totaling a van (at 70 mph!--wierd accident, a merging vehicle's bumper seems to have caught her rear tire, throwing her into a spin which impacted the rear of the other vehicle before both came to rest in the ditch, hers facing backward from the direction of travel and nearer the impact site, the other continuing more-or-less straight). Her only injury was caused by the airbag deploying and giving her some nasty bruises and something like rugburns on her arms.
"I think there are probably more Republicans than Democrats who do not wear their seat belts going be the threads I see here on the subject."
Given that this board attract 99.44% Republicans, I would think the sample is a bit skewed.
