That's money that used to float in the US economy that no longer does. It used to enrich American citizens, creating jobs and a booming economy. And we're drained of it year after year.

Looks like there's way too many illegals in the US.

Gosh... who woulda' thunk it.

Well you better also condemn those people who buy gasoline. That money goes straight to Opec.

At least those people sending that money back for the most part are doing jobs that benefits the American economy(i.e building building, making beds, picking food, etc.etc)

Devastating our economy year after year, probably going to fund terrorism overseas, killing other people's children.

That's money drained out of our economy in addition to the money that is drained in social services, schools, etc. This is getting really out of hand and they had better put a stop to it.

Wealth creation knows no limit. It is not a zero sum game except in socialist nations where government limits growth and increases poverty as a result in the long term.

Chances are the money returns here ultimately to buy something we make, import, or manage. And think of it: such money may be unreported income, depriving the Washington sucking spending machine of funds it cannot spend. If the U.S. becomes a new wealth source for third world nations, they will support policies that enrich us and them.

Economists usually figure that a dollar makes it way around an area five times, in terms of economic activity. So if for example Mexicans send home from the USA $20 billion per year = $100 billion less economic activity in the USA.

WANTED: maid at famous California resort. Must be willing to work 10 hour days, 13 days in a row. Minimum wage, no benefits. Good tips.

I worked there one summer to help put myself through college. About 50% of the maids were illegals who spoke no English. By summer's end all the white ladies were fired and replaced by non-complaining illegals. Yes, the white ladies dared to complain about the working conditions. This story is not atypical - it happens all over the US and in many industries (agriculture, food, construction, etc.).

Question: Would that $126 billion a year save Social Security? (sarcasm)

From just a number crunching point of view, how does this effect U.S. inflation? Looks like chump change in a multi-trillion dollar economy, but?

And just yesterday I read where Bush is now giving a billion a year to the hospitals along the borders for treating illegals!

My mind says that US dollars EVENTUALLY have to be spent here.......it is just a matter of time. Maybe I am looking at this too simply but I am willing to be convinced otherwise.

This repatriation of funds means that illegal aliens working and living here are usually living in poverty because a large % of their income is sent home. This makes the social costs of this type of labor much higher than merely the $126 billion they send out.

That's just the money they save by having us pay for their medical, education, housing, and other "welfare" demanded from taxpayers, for "Doing the jobs that Americans won't do" and "Doing work that not even blacks will do."

But remittances around the world now total more than $126 billion

Before complaining about the 126 B drained from our economy, consider the tax benefit to the United States Treasury. I'm guessing that we collected a hefty, ah, umm, uhhhhhh...well, okay, maybe not that much.

Anything?
