The Corps will be a better place without Patano.
The Army, in the 60's, would have been better off without a Lt. Calley.

Calley vs. Patano ~ a truly unfair comparision.

Listen, y'all. Patano's career was nowhere bound. It seems he rejoined to patriotically help he country, maybe get some payback on the human waste which is islam, but a 3 year old Lt is behind the curve at the onset. He served honorably. He was the object of a bitter enlisted man's complaint. The complaint was pursued in the usual Marine Corp way. He wasn't 'exonerated'. The simple complaint charge and subsequent investigation and courts martial further dropped his position lower on the curve. As Vet has pointed out, some of the actions the Lt took, while making sense to us, were against Marine policy. There is the right way, the wrong way, and the Marine way. The good Lt's mom put a couple of nails in the good Lt's career, also. Sure, she fought really hard for her boy, but Marines don't really need mamma's boys, replete with apron strings. Everywhere his career took him, he would be proceeded by this mess. Let the good Lt go back the NYC and make a fortune on the market. His notoriety may possibly assist that avenue of his career.

Repeating; there is the right way, the wrong way, and the Marine way. The Marine Corps will continue to do things the Marine Corps way, and all things considered, Lt. Patano is going to be better off than if he stayed. Semper Fi, Marines. Get used to it, civilians, most Marines have.
