I've always assumed the militia is basically every able bodied male citizen. That's why we all have guns (or at least one of the reasons). Hmmm... in todays world, guess we'd better make that every able bodied citizen. Hmmmm... or maybe just every citizen.

Well then maybe Mr. King should lobby congress for a chartered civilian militia, being an all volunteer force with guidelines set forth by congress, with no compensation from the government, a true militia. Something along the lines that our VFW and American legion groups are set up.

ALSO, we have federal police, state police and, local police. All three enforce the federal laws. Why can't the border states get federal monies to establish a border patrol. These officers would be very will trained as our officers are in other areas. Why can't homeland security fund such agencies.
It all boil down to the politicians seeing nothing but potential voters coming across our borders, nothing more, nothing less.

Give me a good 4x4 and I can go almost anywhere I could when I was a young trooper. Once I get to where I'm neeeded
my age and disability becomes even less important since I am much smarter than I was as a teenager.

Good morning. I hope your doing well.
"Or is the military and the militia one and the same?"
No. I believe it's U.S.C. Title 10 (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), that it is every man between the ages of 18 to 55. Soon, I won't be militia material anymore. 8^(
