There are plenty of troops in places that could be put on the border without a huge manpower increase. There's also the National Guard.
We could easily raise the manpower by letting all sex offenders out on parole with the understanding they have to finish the rest of the sentence as BP AND as a spif, they get to grope every illegal they apprehend. Just watch the number of arrests skyrocket!!!
The guard is not the answer. Guardsmen are inactive, live civilian lives until called up. Put the guard on permenant duty, and watch your recruitment evaporate.
