The last thing we need is Brownback, the man is an open borders fanatic. By 2008 the country will be ready for a conservative, not a RINO.

If Brownback is a "RINO," then the acronym has lost its meaning. He is quite conservative.

He's a RINO on border issues, most conservatives favor the law and order approach to the problem, not giving them amnesty as McCain, Ted Kennedy, and Sam are currently pushing.

Not on border issues he isn't.

Brownback is one of the most conservative Senators. Just because he has a difference on one issue (and I'm not sure about that) doesn't make someone a RINO.

This RINO name is much misused. We need ALL Republicans, including Gays, RINO, right wing radicals, moderates.... in order to defeat the leftists. Let's think positive about our party and put the subtle differences aside when it comes to election time.

However, I can't imagine Brownback having a chance in hell of doing well in the R primary. He's rather dry in personality, IMO.

This is the third post I've tried to explain what I'm saying: he's a RINO on border issues. He may be a conservative on everything else but what good is it when you're giving the country away?

You say it's only one issue but take a look at some of the immigration threads and see how much support there is for the McCain, Ted Kennedy, Sam Brownback amnesty. That is the most destructive bill to have been written let alone supported by so-called conservatives.

Will's column mentions nothing about Brownback's views on the illegal invasion and I can't recall his participation either way.

It's lost it's meaning.

Pet peeve and I'll say it again.

RINO=REPUBLICAN IN NAME ONLY

RINO does not = CONSERVATIVE ACROSS THE BOARD IN NAME ONLY.

A person can be both a Liberal and a Republican. It's rare but it happens. Witness Rudy for example.

A RINO is a person such a Chafee. Someone that evidences no loyalty to the Party that brought him to the table. THIS does not define brownback.

Since you haven't convinced the Republican party on borders, it is not being a Republican in name only to not agree with you on borders. The reality is, the anti immigration issue splits both parties, with union types among the Dems pitted against coastal left wingers, and populist Republicans pitted against free trade business Republicans. The Republican party position on the borders is that of George Bush, not that of Michael Savage.

Brownback's a sponsor of the McCain, Kennedy massive amnesty. For as long as I can remember he's been pushing open border policies, including huge increases in H1-b visas.

That may be the position of the RNC but it most certainly is not that of the rank and file.

Do you support the McCain, Kennedy, Brownback amnesty?

Brownback is awesome, but his name recognition isn't that good.

He does know how to get the moderates on his side though. My mom is not conservative, but even she votes for him.
