If those studies compare .40 loaded to it's maximum level versus 10mm loaded to it's max, then the results would be valid.
If those studies compare .40 (which is a max-pressure round) to most commercial 10mm loadings (which are underpowered), they you are just comparing a .40 to......another .40.

I don't care if the LEO's use blanks or square bullets.
The real life stats are what they are.
The 165 gr .40 may in fact be deadlier for various reasons than a 180gr 10mm.
Faster lighter bullets may cause more trauma and expand more.
