In actual field shootings by LEO the .40 has been deadlier than the 10mm. I am not talking about shooting phone books or gelatin. I am talking about the real deal.

If those studies compare .40 loaded to it's maximum level versus 10mm loaded to it's max, then the results would be valid.

If those studies compare .40 (which is a max-pressure round) to most commercial 10mm loadings (which are underpowered), they you are just comparing a .40 to......another .40.

I don't care if the LEO's use blanks or square bullets.

The real life stats are what they are.

The 165 gr .40 may in fact be deadlier for various reasons than a 180gr 10mm.

Faster lighter bullets may cause more trauma and expand more.
