Border Patrol Addresses Illegal Brazilian Problem
KGBT 4 - TV Harlingen, TX ^ | June 2, 2005 | Romeo Cantu

The U.S. Border Patrol answered a Valley woman's questions Wednesday night, regarding problems she's having with illegal Brazilians entering through her back yard.

"They leave marks," Hidalgo County resident Idalia Gonzalez said. "They'll leave backpacks, candy wrappers, but mostly it's just marks. When I come here I just break it down."

Just south of Palmview, Gonzalez has discovered illegal Brazilians are using her family's land as a gateway into the United States.

She said that she's tried to get answers by even calling people in Washington, but has gotten no where.

So Gonzalez decided to contact the Action 4 News Listens Line.

"Why are they here? Is it for safety? To live a better life?" she asked. "When is it going to stop? When is it going to end? That's what I want to know. I don't know about the rest of the people, but I do. I'm worried."

Action 4 News took Gonzalez's questions straight to the Border Patrol headquarters in McAllen. Agents said that the influx of Brazilians is largely due to our neighbors to the south.

"Currently Brazilians do not need a passport to travel through Mexico," said Roy Cervantes, a spokesman for the Border Patrol. "They can travel through the country without being impeded by Mexican immigration."

According to the Border Patrol's latest figures, last year there were a little over 2,600 Brazilians captured in the Rio Grande Valley.

Already this year, there have been more than 14,000.

To help Gonzalez, some agents will be sent to her area and she's also being asked to be more active with the border patrol.

"We've reached out to Ms. Gonzalez and listened to her concerns," Cervantes said. "We've also invited her to the next Community Partnership meeting that will be held on June 22 at 7 p.m. at the McAllen Border Patrol station."

Anyone wishing to attend that meeting can call 618-8163

The Community Partnership program is the perfect place for people to air their problems of illegal immigration to the Border Patrol and get a response.

Brazilians...there's a Muslim triangle at the intersection of Brazil, Argentina and Peru (I think - might be Chile) where terrorist training goes on.

America has the reputation among the third world nations' peoples of being easy - taxpayers are suckers, and politicians have their arses so tied in knots from either corruption, incompetence, or both they don't to know how to get the borders secure.

Let's face it. America is an easy ride for anyone "brave" enough to leave home.

I bet a few feisty Bull Mastiffs could change that migration route pretty quick.

The Border Patrol is pushing their ineptness off on the Mexican Government? Hilarious!

I wonder what their response would have been if the criminal aliens invading this lady's property had been Mexicans?

"They're just looking for a better life, Mrs. Gonzales. Show some compassion."

In the meantime, she ought to set up a concession stand and pick up a few bucks.

I doubt that anyone takes the Border Patrol seriously any more. That "stand down" order from the Arizona BP crapweasel-in-charge did it for me. I have now added the Border Patrol to my list of useless and counter-productive federal agencies.

The BP has officially become part of the problem.

For about ten seconds, then they kill the dogs. Smugglers kill anything that gets in their way, including people. Nothing short of punji pits, land mines, or massed Border Patrol agents would discourage them.

It is called the "terrorist triangle" and is located in a lawless border area shared by Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.

There are more Brazilians than Mexicans. As a matter of fact, there are more Brazilians than Spanish-speaking Latin Americans, IIRC.

My point is that the Brazilians could displace the Mexicans very quickly as the largest illegal alien population.

Off to learn Portuguese.

As I was reading this post who should call.......yup the RNC looking for money. I listened and told the young lady that I will not contribute one more dime and will not until Bush closes the border and pushes for his judges. I told her that if the RNC wanted money they should look to the illegals for contributions, my money is already going to them, for education, health care, housing, etc.

My Opinion:
It sounds like Idalia Gonzalez may be a Texas property owner who would welcome the Minutemen--(one of many?)--in direct contrast to media reports that Texas folks reject the Minutemen outright...

"Their" Opinion
Again, thank you President Bush for your leadership, plain talk, and ongoing actions to stop illegal aliens, drug traffickers and yes, terrorists by securing our borders. We, the officers of Walmart, Tyson Foods, Nebraska Beef, Builders Assn. and a host of other entities---including community based organizations like La Raza, Lulac, and Maldef salute you.

Has any president ever "closed" the border? (remember Reagan and his amnesty?)

"The Community Partnership program is the perfect place for people to air their problems of illegal immigration to the Border Patrol and get a response."

How about instead of holding meetings, they give a real response of securing the border? Oh wait, that would violate the policies handed down from on high in Washington that we no long enforce our laws and are not to bother defending our sovereign borders from illegal aliens invading our country.
