The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

MIRAMAR, Fla. -- Despite the massive federal, state and local law enforcement effort to stop terrorists from entering the United States, there is no strong evidence of how well it is working.

Many experts are concerned that there are plenty of terrorists or sympathizers already in the country who have been here for years. Some are even citizens.

The Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers were the first wave and now the increasing number of arrests seems to signal a second wave of terrorism in South Florida.

Very much so. And it also feels that something has begun. London last week, too many evacuations today for my liking. A new audiotape. I'll be VERY surprised if this week goes without incident. Really i dont have a good feeling in my stomach right now.

Stopping the use of cell phones, indicates how serious the problem is.

Having read of the other countries who are also reacting to the threat, I think at last there is someone other than myself who has decided the entire world is at war.

No cell phones will sure change the lives of a lot of folks.

I agree. This is a pretty drastic measure. They are obviously taking this new threat very serious. The Lincoln and Holland tunnels were on the blind sheik's NYC hit list. A series of bombs going off in the NYC tunnels would be devastating setting off a chain reaction of exploding cars.

For years, Noranda was the only buyer in this area, those of us who didn't sell to them, hoped it meant that we would get a mill out of the deal, but did not.

The mining in Mohave County ceased during WW2, as all the miners went in the military and the equipment was sold for scrap metal.

No, granny does not own one.

I never felt the need to own one either. It wouldn't have done me much good on 9/11. Everyone at my office who had one couldn't get through to loved ones any way. Post 9/11 my husband made me get one and it certainly came in handy during the blackout two years ago. Of course, now I wouldn't leave home without it :)

Can they block them in the subway as well?

I'm not sure. The subways may be too far underground. I don't think they pick up the signal. That's probably why the London terrorists used timers. I think their subways are further below ground than NYC's.
