I did so love my M119A1 howitzer.
It was only a light 105mm 'pop gun', but it was such a fun system to play with.
Clipping thin branches off of trees with the round we just fired was always a moment of white knuckled fun.
"FDC, site to crest is 300 mils at 100 meters, how copy?"
"Good copy, 250 mils at 200 meters."
"WHAT?!"
(Site to crest is the minimum elevation/height the howitzer elevation has to be to clear obstructing trees when firing. FDC tends to average the measurements out. Which had us pruning a tree or three more than once.)
