What is the warfighting benefit of a completely new service? There would be overhead for (different)uniforms, staffs, commands, etc. Services organize, train, & equip forces, they don't fight wars.
As far as warfighting goes,we already have an organization that supplies space support and integrates space warfare for combatant commanders.
What do you see as a benefit of a "US Space Force?"

Well when we do have colonies in space in the future we will need a military to protect the colonies... I would rather have us do it then some foreign nation...
