Having had a stroke can definitely slow you down, but that does not, in and of itself, make you demented."
Forget what I said. A "well informed, anonymous source" has just advised me that W. Mark Felt is sharp as a tack, rested and ready for his next assignment.

The guy retired before he was prosecuted. Shortly after his conviction President Reagan, at the urging of, among others, G. Gordon Liddy, issued him a pardon.
Liddy said he's having second thoughts on that recommendation.
So, whether he lost his pension or not, he got it back!

I'm actually a little embarrassed for FR that this speculative, dig-for-dirt thread even exists. Isn't this Clintonesque type of behavior beneath us?

No doubt lebenteenzillion "fibies" have gone to visit Felt in recent years and there are plenty of folks out there who are quite knowledgeable of his condition.
The "sharp as a tack" stuff probably comes from one of the COINTELPRO guys for whom he fell on his sword (unfortunately), and they'll be loyal to the beidereind!

Without seeing any signs of abuse, just knowing that somebody has taken care of their Father for 20 years is enough to accuse them of abuse?
No. Why do you ask?

How dare you judge what is "the correct" level of care for someone who might have some money. And who would make that decision? Do we let the government come into our homes now and decide if I'm giving my Mother the "Proper" kind of care in relation to how much she brings in a month. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.

Like I said... DEEP THROAT reportedly has said he didn't want his "name known" until he died. Unless he has gone through ALL of his assets for his "care", I am bothered by the fact that this came out against his un-demented wishes. (Use to be conservatives cared about this kind of values based moral issue.)

You're right. This is what liberals do. Ken, there's alot to this story to find fault with...this is not one of them. People make decisions based on money everyday. Again, SO WHAT if the family wants to make some money off of his story. Why shouldn't they? Everyone does these days. So the daughter should just sit back and when her Dad dies she'll see Woodward all over the place making millions of bucks?

It just makes me crazy when I see intelligent people stoop to this kind of rhetoric. It's Schiavo all over again. For some people it's just easier to see a villain than to see people making difficult decisions for reasons they themselves don't agree with.

One of the best ideas going for in-home eldercare is to convert a garage with a groundfloor entrance capability into an apartment which is wheelchair or walker accessible. True.
Lots of people out there PREFER to live with their family and not a bunch of sick, dieing strangers in an old folks rest home.
Amen!!!

It is a necessity for people who are unable to advocate for themselves...especially elders and children..to have guardians to look out for their affairs..The original law was passed because Hollywood child stars in the 1920's were having their parents take all their money..Again, my point is that if, as many assume, she is violating his wishes by pushing this story out before he dies, as it does appear how he originally wanted it..to cash in, then it is NOT unreasonable to see if she has been cashing in before. I'll admit that I admire your blind and childlike faith in the good intentions of all people..sadly, that ain't the real world..

He probably didn't think he'd live to be 91 years old and probably has gone through most of his assets. Isn't it just human to want to help your children? What is wrong with it? So what?

I know how you feel and think about care issues.
God forgive me, but I don't give a rip about MF.

She has been "cashing in?" So you think taking care of an elderly parent is not worth anything?

Neither do I...but for FR to come out and accuse his daughter of abuse is so totally outrageous. I'd say it belittles us, but after the past few months, I don't know how much lower we can go.

I tend to think that Mr.Felt did not want his name to be released until after his death. That was the "deal" from the beginning, IIRC. I personally think Mr.Felt and his family should be somewhat ashamed by what he did (releasing classified info, AFAIK).
I am curious as to why this was released at this time...
