About three years ago, a Polish film crew was detained near Fort Knox for filming the base's main gates. I think they were doing a documentary on the Gold Vault, but they should have used common sense when taking photos of an American military base in the months following 9-11.
A couple years ago when one of my nephews graduated basic at Fort Jackson, a bunch of us went over there and we were told where we could take pictures and where we could not. In fact, I think I still have the handout we were given someplace in my storage stuff.
Picture taking, even around a training camp like Jackson was pretty strict, especially after 9/11.
