My sons Catholic high school released a bag of white mice in my daughters Catholic high school cafeteria. Apparently the girls had the nerve to beat the boys in a spirit day competition!

The girls squealed, the maintenance staff caught the white mice, the principals and parents laughed about it and called the newspaper to tell them how funny it was. Noone was arrested, everyone had a good time, the mice fed snakes at the zoo later that week! And my daughter was the one to be at the cafeteria door when 2 boys dressed in costumes rushed in to release the mice.

"These pranks, while they might seem funny to students, are very stressful to the animals involved," said Lisa Pedersen.

Uh, Lisa, chickens are nasty, vicious, dirty, sadistic little beasts whose best moment is between two slices of bread. Trust me on that one, sweetcakes.

Indeed. Red after Memorial Day?

Or does that have something to do with white & Labor Day?

We had a science teacher with the last name Buggs at one point. We went out and got a lot of Bunnies and released them in his room one morning. You know. Buggs. Bunnies?

Ran into the guy years later. He still holds a grudge.

The worst we did was 84 pumpkins in the school pool & a huge 1984 in fertilizer in the hill visible from the main road. OK, we poured gas on the fertilizer afterward & lit it up.

They were not abused if they had red vests and capes on. Its only pink panties on the head that is abusive.

I'd like to volunteer to give those poor chickens a good home. I have just the place in the basement utility room.

"The vast majority of students were concerned about the chickens and their welfare," said Don Stensrud, high school principal.

I'm thinking Mr. Stensrud needs to receive a lot of coupons to KFC...

Why do chickens need to be on welfare?

For 39 birds, I might have to stop down at Famous Dave's and buy some bulk sauce.

"School officials found 39 chickens dressed in red vests and capes running in the halls of Fairview High School Tuesday morning. With the help of police and students, the birds were herded into the vice principal's office until the Humane Society of Boulder could take them to the shelter."

The school officials and Humane Society made a terrible mistake when they mis-identified Grandmas and Grandpas AS REAL CHICKENS who were at the school teaching the kids the CHICKEN DANCE for the prom .

The mistake has been corrected and they will be released soon from the humane societ.

Did anyone bother to ask the chickens how THEY felt. I gotta believe that they have already lived a much fuller and more interesting lives than 99.9999% of the chickens that hve ever lived. They may indeed feel blessed to have been chosen by fate to have such an experience. How many chickens get to wear red vests and run free, if even for a short time? What about the chickens feelings?!.
