I have no choice of paying taxes and where it will be spent. I do have a choice in which church I choose to attend. I refuse to enable this type of corruption.

These types of "churches" are leading their parishoners down the primrose path. There must be a special place in hell for these "pastors".

Happily, grandma, it is a benevolent and just Deity, and not you, who will see to such matters.

Might I play the devil's advocate - which shouldn't be much of a stretch since you seem to believe I'll spend my eternity in his domain -- Don't you have a choice in paying taxes? If you really believed supporting left-wing, anti-Western causes was immoral - couldn't you put your money where your mouth is and refuse, conscientiously, to pay your taxes? Aren't you willing to pay the price for your vaunted convictions? You are willing to consign others to hell - shouldn't you be willing to go to prison?

Not to worry; the type of people (besides the obvious liberals) who attend these "churches" are doing so for social reasons. I've taken to calling them the "Methodist Club," as one example. Kind of like the Jaycees...listen to a speaker, sing a couple of songs...glad-hand with people who might be able to help you advance in your career.

My Grandma was a lay minister in the Methodist Church; a more well-versed Biblical scholar you would be hard-pressed to find. Back in the 80's, when she was getting on in years, she told me the church had gotten way off track; but that she (kind of like Zell Miller) was too old to leave it.

She had little money, but gave what she had to children around the world who were poor and oppressed. Had she seen her "church" spearheading the return of Elian Gonzales to Cuba (which they did), she would have been mortified.
