UNITED NATIONS - Iraq's foreign minister said he's concerned the United States may pull out of the country before the army and police are ready to take responsibility for the nation's security

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari meets with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley on Thursday, and his wide-ranging agenda includes "the continued engagement" of the United States in Iraq.

The Iraqi minister came to New York to urge the U.N. Security Council to extend the mandate of the U.S.-led multinational force, saying Iraqi troops and police cannot yet defend the country against an armed insurgency by remnants of Saddam Hussein's regime and some foreigners.

"I am concerned — I am concerned," Zebari said in an interview at the United Nations late Tuesday. "I'm a realist, OK, and we've seen that before. We need to complete this mission with their help. We are getting very close. The riding is getting tougher."

Well, then don't plead for help from the Democrats, the MSM, or the U.N., because they want the US out and the new government to fail, (and it's leadership standing against a wall with blindfolds).

Of course they are concerned...no one wants the people that are doing your work and dying for you, to leave.

An interesting turn-about, from what --- April ?

Remember the Iraqi politicos confidently telling their masses that the US would leave soon?

It appears the AP has misread the Democrats play book. The party line is that we're doing more harm than good in Iraq and the Iraqi's hate our guts. The AP is in big trouble.

Must have REALLY hurt to write this article. :o)

But, just wait. The MSM elite will soon chime in that the Iraqis- just as the poor, minorities,anti-illegals folks, French "non" voters, etc- all are the dumb, great unwashed that simply don't know what's in their best interest.

We won't leave unless they tell us too. We may draw down, make that we WILL draw down some on the forces in country, but we probably won't leave totally unless they ask us too...

I think the AP is just doing more of their wishful thinking.

I've heard nothing whatsoever about pulling out anytime in the near future. We're bulding "enduring" bases here and I believe U.S. troops will be in Iraq far into the future. Not as many as we have now, but the presence will remain for a long time.

Note to Helen Thomas: This is what Scott McClellan meant when he said we were in Iraq by invitation.
