Sure. Orders from on "high" came down that female priests would be appointed to churches. Canon laws and church orthodoxy -- female priests is an twisting of scripture.

What is the proper word for a female priest in the Episcopal Church? A priestess?

I do not know how female priests in the EPIS church are addressed in these times; but I still occasionally catch references to these as "priest". Which I find quite interesting, actually.. considering the sleeper movement just wouldn't make the stand right away, after ordaining women to the priesthood -- to calling them Priestesses. Perhaps the Goddess fringe element got in the way?

But I think, not.

I think the ordination of "gays" as Priests was in the works long ago. Therefore, why bandy titles about; equalize them by tearing down what is right and proper - is what I think they were thinking.
