I was under the impression that Deep Throat was actually a comilation of more than one person... that the dirt was coming from multiple sources and W&B fabricated the idea of a single person to protect those sources.

There were probably other sources, but DT was a real person who was at the center of the information. DT is sort of "Felt+".

You're not alone with that theory, but I would guess that's a fringe (no offense) theory, and most of people believed there was one man.
