Like I say... my future financial security will not depend on Social Security. But I think you're the one that hasn't been listening. The white house is the one saying that the proposed changes to social security will hurt a small segment of people. And I'm in that segment. I don't know the numbers, and I don't really think you do. I'm just telling you what the White House has said.

Nobody knows, or as Sec Rumsfeld says "It is unknowable."

I think you are looking at the glass half empty, and refusing to focus on the potential of Paying much less in FICA for twenty years. Assuming a $60,000 pa income, you and your employer are currently sending $7440 to the IRS for you SS contribution. Why do you prefer that to sending them 2/3s and putting the other $2500 in your own private account?
