Did the 9/11 terrorists enter over the southern border?

The only terrorist we KNOW without a doubt entered at a border, was the one caught on the Canadian border by the border patrol agent on 12-31-99, I think---and he was going to blow up LAX...he was caught--on the Canadian border...I don't see near as much screaming for that border to have more agents...

Like I said, I don't want this to turn into a border thread, but I don't think there is a direct link to the Mexican/American border and 9/11....

Jeesh, look at the grief he and the Congress are getting for the Patriot Act which helped capture 2 AMERICAN men this weekend that have been plotting with al-Queda---and the REAL ID ACT...which has people getting all upset...

The reporters are not asking about Illegal immigration. Go figure.

Of course not, they're all having their Capital Hill townhomes remodeled, where else can you get a person to lay tile for $8 hour ...

I'm not an arm chair general. I'm more of the "I told you so" freeper. I've been saying since the days after 9-11 that we were promised things during speeches that we were not going to deliver. 90% of our country was behind our president when he made those promises.

And the further we get into this term the less likely we are to deliver on those promises. We've had a lot of victories. But we've had a lot of politics thrown in there like a wet blanket. Fallujah, our own borders, Osama, Syria, Iran and on and on. All tough issues I agree. And I'm not saying we should kick everybody's butt in the middle east. Yet that's what we were promised in the pursuit of terrorism. No stone unturned.

Okay. If this was the quote I heard (honestly can't recall), then the timeframe is left open.

Left open by his words. The standard process is in Riddick's Senate Procedure - pp 1129-1131. "Parliamentary fun."

I think the timing of taking it up is indefinite, meaning the Senate can reconsider the vote when it wants to. Frist may conclude the Brown and Pryor matters first (they are not contentious, given the MOU) before moving to take up the Motion ot Reconsider the Cloture vote relating to Bolton. (phew - that was a mouthful)

I understand---and I agree. I am as staunch an advocate for border control and immigration reform as anyone--

I want the illegals that are here, shipped back---I would go down and help build a fence...

I am just saying that from what all I have read, just like the Americans that were caught this weekend, I think we have more to fear in the NEXT WAR from the home grown ones that are assimilating into our society---politics, universities....

If we concentrate our WRATH at the border situation, then we let the powers the be tack their eyes off of the terrorist that are ALREADY HERE, living as doctors!!!

This is the quote I heard!

The "we are ready 10 miunutes after we return" line was by Biden, not Frist. FWIW.

***The fact that Osama seems to be still alive is pretty much unforgivable***

but...but...but...Why should Pres Bush be after Osama? Howard Dean told Russert that he did not believe Osama had anything to do with 9/11.
"is the insinuation that the president continues to make to this day that Osama bin Laden had something to do with supporting terrorists that attacked the United States. That is false."

Sure, but he may also elect to deal with Bolton first so as not to give the Dems the ability to say "See, look how nice we were, confirming two ultra right-wing, extremist, cross-burning judges!"

Well... I hear what you're saying... and I disagree with the left. I think Osama was behind the bombing. But more than that... Our president should find him, and bring him to justice because he told the American people that is what he was going to do. That was the priority at the time. But when politics, the price of oil, and other considerations come into the picture, the priority changes I guess.

I swear Bill Frist said last week Bolton would be brought back up as soon as the Senate returned.

Click here -> Senate - May 26, 2005
Navigate to -> 11 . NOMINATION OF JOHN ROBERT BOLTON TO ...
The complete record of what Frist said between the time the cloture motion failed and the conclusion of business is near the bottom of that page, on pages S5997 & S5998.

The Senate only does business on the floor on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

It may be that they don't schedule votes on Mondays and Fridays, but if you check ...
http://thomas.loc.gov/r109/r109.html <--
you'll find plenty of activity in the Senate on Modays and Fridays.

shall I point you in the direction of the links that document the terrorists are operating south of the border...
why bother flying in when they can come across the border unabated...

I agree with you often Coop. I wan't trying to pick a fight. We just disagree about Osama, and the effect that it has on this presidency.
