This is an 8-page interview in the NYT Magazine of Tracy Della Vecchia, founder of the website MarineParents.com. I know we don't like to register to read articles, but this one is worth it. The author mostly surpresses her bias and the result is a pretty good story for Memorial Day.

I disagree about registering. The Times is still very suspect. As best as I can gather, the NYT is still characterized by a pro-Israel, anti-Republican bias. (mind you, there is nothing wrong with being for Israel; but when they justify Israeli spying, it goes too far)
Until they realign themselves in "right" fashion, it is best to avoid them.

No offense meant, and sorry to disagree with you, but I found the story to be quite negative and anti-war. It might not have been an in-your-face, "bring the troops home" piece, but it was anti-war nonetheless. To me, the story conveyed a defeatist tone, reminiscent of the Vietnam era. Not from the Marine mothers, but from the author herself. Considering that the author is an assistant dean (or something like that) at Berkeley, I am not surprised.

I really don't care for the article. Sorry. I'm a little sick of the press trying to take an inner look at very personal stress. As a parent I get a lot more support from Marine Mom's online that Militaryparents.com anyway.
